The only media that will remove rust are abrasives which also remove steel.
Soda blasting is an old process. If it was everything that they claim, why would everyone use plastic & walnut shell?...both are more expensive & neither remove rust.
Silica is the nicest media I've ever used for frames, & chassis parts. That being said, it's dangerous & outlawed in most places.
Most good blasting companies will use a combination of media for automotive use.
Soda will work for removing the paint but switching to something more aggressive is necessary on any corrosion.
Even their claim of not warping sheetmetal is false & misleading. You can warp sheetmetal with any media if you're not very careful.
I'm not saying Soda is bad...just not quite the miracle product they are making it out to be.
Once you go to all the work of disassembling something to the point of being able to blast it...my advice is to be sure the rust has been completely removed before any coating is applied.
Neutralizing rust would be a band-aid, in my opinion.
