Would'nt it be unlikely that 12(?) pins would shear even if they are soft?
My guess is that if something break, it would be the outer cage cracking/exploding.
A well designed hub would use soft pins to save wear on the more expensive surrounding parts when these are jerking back and forth under use.
Warn hubs are well designed.
