I'd had it sitting on the shelf for a couple years.

Treating the tank was the first thing I did on my restoration. So it had two years to dry, a black tank in the SoCal sun. Then I modified my sending assembly by putting the pick-up through it, so it can be serviced. Next time it's out I'll put on a pick-up sock too, something I couldn't find the day I installed the tank.

PS: the 3M stuff stuck to me. It also stuck to the tank, and it glued the original pick up tube shut. But it's only had gas in it for three months now.
