What makes an old Winchester rifle better than an old Remington rifle? What makes anything "better" than something else? Sometimes it's scarcity. Sometimes it's usefulness. In this case, it's probably both. A capstan winch is useful because you can disengage the cable drum and throw a couple of loops of hemp rope around the capstan spool and use it lift a deer or elk, or to pull a small log or many other lighter duty tasks. And you still have the cable spool to winch yourself or others out. I would buy one in a second.
