The darn revers-lockout-spring was malfunctioning due to a broken/missing soft washer/split ring. Part #313-514 in mine. So there was no spring to keep it out of reverse as you went from second to third, or third to fourth. I had earlier found the 'washer' parts in the drain oil. They had been through the wringer.

Plus, the pin that goes in the top of my tower had been replaced with a 5/16" bolt, welded in. So i ground off the weld, and the bolt section must have been a grade eight, it had embrittled from the welding and was loose in the hole. I found that the shank of the next size drill was a snug fit, so I cut it of and hammered it in. Now I don't have to 'stir the soup' to get it into the next gear.

I had filled it with 140wt. I think I'll go back to 90. The 140 shifts different when cold vs hot, making it harder to double clutch since the required timing changes with viscosity. But it doesn't leak...
