We seem to be in a little local spot of heavy snow today. It's not snowing much away from here, but it's still coming down hard here. I'll take some pictures tomorrow. I know what you mean about the rain and snow. That's what we had up until a few days ago and it made some very hard-frozen slush all over everything.
As for the house burning down, I think it was somebody's way of saying "If you don't like looking at the 'junk' on my lot, then I don't want to look at the 'junk' on your lot either." There are a few people around here who still live by the old mountain ways.
