I've owned and driven a M-35 for probably 10 years, now even my wife thinks it's a practical vehicle to own! They're really not that big- the footprint is only a bit longer than my W-200 crewcab. I have used mine to haul everything from gravel to HOOTERS girls. The rear tandem assemblies are rated at 28,000 lbs., so you can pretty much carry anything you can fit in the bed.
The bed will carry 7 tons of gravel before it starts to spill over the short sides- add some side boards - then start getting concerned about bridge limits! The air over hydraulic brakes work quite well.
Buy'em while they're cheap!!
