Unhooking the battery on many vehicles erases some memory, and puts the computer into the 'limp home' mode. Until it re-learns. So, to find out fersure, unhook the battery for several minutes, then see how it does at re-start?

I have to go through that about annually on my '95 F250. It will start to shift harder and harder, until it hits so hard I can't believe it. Like getting rear ended with every up-shift. So I unhook the battery for 15 minutes, let it's memory erase, and re-start. It then shifts soft as any C-6 in a 66 T-bird ever did. But gets back to normal in a few days. Good for a year or so. Due any day now. HMmmm, planned transmission failure? How many trannys get sold I wonder?
