Harry - maybe that is why your Dad was doing valve jobs EVERY fall! The head gasket is "crushed" upon torqueing the head bolts, subsequent use of the gasket will not result in
the "crushing" effect as desired, unless you applied excessive torque. I am sure you could use the same gasket over and over, but why put yourself through the hassle, especially with these rusty old engines.
