A few months ago the top industrial/vehicular (i.e. non-marine) rating of the 4BTA was 130 hp @2500, 333 ft-lb @ 1500. Now it's 350 ft-lb, same hp and rpms. There's a 4Be and 6Be series being buit in Cummins factories in Europe, currently. For the 4Be the top rating is 180 hp @ 2500 and 443 ft-lb @ 14-1600. Wow! The 6Be top rating is 300 hp and 701 ft-lb. I think 443 ft-lb is enough to keep most of use with limited space engine compartments (old Dodges, Landcruisers, Landrovers - I'd like to do a forward control LR 101 conversion) very happy for a long time. The 4BT is more than adequate for a >8000 lb GVW full sized truck and yet I saw one squeezed into a CJ7 last year. The 6B is overkill for a number of rigs. I saw one on the Net put into a FJ60 Landcruiser wagon. Too long (fan damaged radiator), too heavy (needed to add two leaves to heaviest duty aftermarket susp.) and a souped up 4BTA (440 ft-lb) more or less matches early 6BTs (420-460 ft-lb). Take my word for it, one-off engine conversions are hard enough without needing a shoehorn.
