It is my understanding from speaking with numerous people (researched the issue for brake fluid on my '67 Pontiac) that the brake system needs to be designed for the DOT-5 fluid in order to take advantage of its benefits. The silicon-based DOT-5 fluid will permeate and penetrate gaskets and seals originally designed for the older brake fluid- not a situation I'd like to have when stopping. Stick with DOT-4 and you'll be very happy.
