I just got my "new" WC12 started yesterday. I've had it about 2
months now. I drove it a few feet just to check the running gear. It's been almost 30 years since I drove one of these things, when I owned a 1/2 ton WC carryall (as a kid). I can tell you it was one heck of great feeling to be behind that wheel. It hadn't run for who knows how many years. I had to clean oil out of the starter, a hornets nest out of the carburator and buy a new fuel pump. Did some cleaning of the oil filter and distrubutor and pressurized the oil system andput oil down the cylinders (a month earlier). Poured a little gas down the carb. and she fired right up! (Amazingly, the radiator already had antifreeze in it). I wasn't sure what I'd find wrong with it. It actually ran pretty nice (considering) and seemed to be in sound mechanical condition, although there shouldn't be too many mosquitos in the neighborhood for a while judging from the amount of smoke it produced. I guess it's a testament to how good these trucks are and why people have held on to them for so long. I still have a long way to go to make it road worthy, let alone restore it, but it's going to be a fun project. So anyway, another old Dodge won't be going to the scrapyard just yet!
