A few notes on 1/2 ton WC 4x4's, first +'s
Gears are 4.88 (with 9.00x16's you can roll down highway).Trucks are lighter in weight, Springs are more flexable for better ride. Nice high ride stance. Somewhat better sheet metal supply/options. (much in common with 4x2 39-47 wc)
With a '47 steering gear (worm and roller as opposed to worm & tooth) they steer ok. Shorter wheelbase = more manuverabiltity. Cheaper to buy.
-'s
Axles and third members weaker. If you want winch, you need a winch frame truck. Single speed xfer case. Smaller brakes. Most have smaller 6 (215). Locking hubs are hard to come by. Possible less increase in value over a PW.
There is alot you can do for adding a 2 speed xfer, brake and axle upgrades depending on your use.
