Just received my Helitool M37 disc brake conversion kit from Ray Suiter.

It looks better than the pics on the website (http://www.helitool.com). Very rugged, well designed, well built.

For those who aren't familiar with it, it converts the M37 hubs to take GMC 3/4 ton calipers and rotors. You can either do the front axle or put discs on all the way around. I'm going to try it first with discs on the front and the original brakes on the back. You have to supply the calipers and rotors. The kit has modified hubs, caliper mounts (replaces the backing plates) and a spacer to take up the gap from the now unused brake drums.

Instructions are also included on how to build all the plumbing (you furnish) and how to install a Chevy 1-ton master cylinder (again, you furnish). Other than two small holes on the frame and two in the crossmember that holds the master cylinder, there are no alterations and your M37 could be restored back to original condition.

There are kits for several different PW's and military Dodges, so if it sounds interesting, visit his website.

I'm looking forward to the Dodge 318 V-8 conversion kit Ray is working on. It will mate to the original NP420 transmission, so that the original PTO winch can be used. It will also not alter the M37 so that it cannot be restored back to original.
