I really enjoyed your comments about Phoenix and they certainly hit home. I spent 10 years of my life
there before being able to escape to the small-town life in Cottonwood, AZ (23 years). I am now
enjoying even smaller-town life and elbow room in the forest near Reserve, NM.
This week it all became perfectly clear why I live here. We we forced to evacuate due to a forest fire
drawing near and my "neighbors" (some 30 miles away) were quick to phone, or just show up, to help shuttle
vehicles and belongings out of danger. There were also more offers for places to stay than we could have
taken advantage of in months.
We were fortunate that the fire was diverted as it got within a mile of our home. While we have an
awful lot to be greatful for, I did realize that I have burdened myself with TOO MUCH STUFF. -Dale D.
