Used a gin Pole for 20 years on my M-37. Wrecked three sets of springs. Blocked the axle and cracked the frame at the front cross member. Welded frame and built out riggers off the front bumper, but any pull that is not perfectly vertical will stress the whole front end in a bad sort of way. Gin polls as a battle field expedient are ok but in real life you have to foot the bill. Later models of the WM300 are stronger in the springs than the long M-37 springs and earlier PW’s but the m-37 winch frame is stronger at the front than frame extensions. Not good ether way. End result is if you have to do it you can but you will pay a price. Years later I have fixed all my damage and have not used the gin pole again....“Keep Em Rolling“....Jackson
