thanks for the advice guys! i love the ability to hammer the slant 6 with no repercussions. it has given me several years of trouble-free service. my only complaint is the lack of low end power. i'm having some carburator trouble(cold/hot starting, erratic idle, minor fuel leakage and really bad fuel mileage), and suspect this may be part of the problem. i've talked to several experienced mechanic friends and have gotten the same grimace when mentioning a swap to a fuel injected engine, so i'm not sure i want to tackle this project, after all.
