Advance apologies for some non-Dodge content.
Hit 'delete' now if you're not a car person....

Carrol would put that engine in anything, the Tiger, TVR Griffiths, Cobra, and later the Pantera. The Tiger engine bay was so small he could only fit the early 260 with the 5 bolt bellhousing, and even then the firewall had to be changed. The one you would remember would be the LAT (Los Angeles Tiger) that Don Smart drove in 'Get Smart'

Pretty much the same sort of experimenting as we do with the later Dodge engines in the PWs and WCs. Of course he also did the Shelby Charger, which was a Dodge product.

Then, as now, politics was the problem. Ford were fed up seeing Ford powered Cobras and Tigers winning races whilst not being 'obvious' Ford product, so they demanded that Carroll fired up the Mustang, hence my GT 350. They did exactly the same with Colin Chapman who was producing Ford-engined Lotus product in the UK, and this resulted in the Lotus Cortina. They even tried to get folks to call it a Cortina lotus, but no-one did - strange, eh ?

The excellent Shelby American Automobile Club is on the 'web and caters for owners of all this stuff (like me)

Anyone ever put a small block 289 Hi-Po Ford in a PW frame ?

Gordon
