Horses are about 80 pieces cut from 2x12 pine or Bass wood. We sawed the first ones on a 1972 Craftsman 12" band saw. We rough saw the parts, then glue up legs, neck, head , body, tail subasssemblys. Saw some more, then carve each limb. Use a router jig to make glue surfaces flat, then assemble. Takes about 150 hours. We did about 80, between full sized and kids size on rockers.

The mermaid is contructed the same way. My brother Leon in Colorado has the patterns for the Mermaid. But I think he would rather go fly fishing than carve. But I can put you in touch if you want to ask.

As much as I love to carve kid's rockers, I've had to stop carving. Hard as the Power Wagon is on my hands, carving is worse. Seven surgeries to my hands is enough- four for traumatic repairs, one for carpal tunnels, two for trigger fingers for a total of five fingers.

So I'm thinking of dabbling in Power Wagon accessories like sewn stuff, or composite repros. Or find another FFPW to restore?
