Do you know your firing order? You mentioned your engine is a 251 am I correct? I am not sure but would assume its the same as for a 230 which is 1.5.3.6.2.4. in that order. I see noone had mentioned that9or at least I didnn't see it). Anyway rotate no.1 piston to TDC and you should have the rotor pointing at about the 7:00 position. even if its 180 off, you can still wire the engine to fire correctly as long as you keep the firing order the same. Thats what was wron gwith my truck when i got it home, although I think this was the seller's idea of a joke as the engine ran fin when I wento to look at the truck, but by the time I went back paid and got the truck home and tested the engine the next day it rna like $hit and backfired out the wazoo. I checked and found the wiring to be off. I reset to the correct order and got the thing running in no time. Hope this helps.
