very unlikely that the timing chain has jumped. The timing chain in a 230 is the widest strongest timing chain I have ever seen on any light duty engine. rotate teh crank so the timing pointing to the zero on the crank pulley. pull cap and see if rotor is pointing towards the number 1 cylinder. It should be pointing to number one or number 6 if installed correctly. number one is usually located at about 7 oclock on the dist. chekc point gap check for vacuum leaks. a cold engine with the vacuum wiper hose disconnected probably wont start! Also a cracked dist cap can cause lots of havoc. ;/)
