On the East coast, the minimum you can get for a small car is $200, and it goes up for bigger cars and trucks. A friend just took in a small trailer load of aluminum irrigation pipe and got $740.
If the wreck has mag wheels or a catalytic converter, the price per pound goes up, too.
He is making $800 a week, working two days a week dragging stuff out of the weeds.
You wouldn't believe the stuff that people take in to the crusher. The owners of the place occasionally pull gems out of the pile, and keep them in a display area, and refurbish them. One was a fully-equipped Seagrave open cab fire engine from the 1940's. No PW's yet, though.
