Then a 3/4 ton GMC.

Most of the stuff I mentioned only comes into play with heavy use. I used to tow at least 26,000lbs GCVW using a two place trailer to haul trucks with my 1997 12V with a NV4500.

There is no way an automatic would have done that job very well.

But plenty of people use the Automatic trucks to haul single car trailers, or full dump beds.

I know a guy that uses a 1994 12V cab chassis with a dump bed to haul dirt, and a trailer with his bobcat. He has never had problems that I know of.

The frame problem should be checked, as you don't want to buy a truck with a cracked frame, but if it was repaired well, or never cracked you should be ok for most uses.

Go drive a 12V truck, and imagine how nice all that power would be compared to your 3/4 ton GMC.

I tend to think in extremes when it comes to truck use, but the problems I was pointing out may not be a problem for you use if you can currently do it with a 3/4 ton GMC.

Good luck,

Eric
