Rear Main Bearing Oil Seal

Wendel (1954 PW) has been leaking alot of oil from the rear of the engine, particularly when going up the steep hill to my house. I'm not sure if it is the rear oil pan seal or the rear main seal.

According the engine serial number, it is supposed to have the external retainer-type oil seal that is difficult/impossible to replace without splitting the engine from the manifold. I pulled the clutch housing pan and dropped the oil pan to see if I could locate the leak.

The cork rear oil pan seal did have a big chunk out of it, put it's hard to tell if it blew apart when I pulled the pan or was already broken.

The clutch and flywheel are clean and dry, but there was a small amount of oil inside the bellhousing and a fair amount of oil splashed in the clutch housing pan. The felt dust covers are soaked with oil.

Problem is, I can see no sign of the external seal retainer or any screws attaching it to the rear main bearing cap (unless the screws are flush or inset instead of cap screws and can't be seen from below). I can see a rubber type seal around the crank where it exits the block.

Any insights or suggestions?
