I'm usually looking for particular types of truck, and when I do I'm always looking for it to have all the original parts and hard-to-find bits. I'm not usually that bothered about condition as long as it isn't a pile of rust, completely worn out, or stupidly overpriced. That said, I'd only buy 'mongrels' for parts and the price would have to be right.

In the last thirty years or so I've learned to give everything a good look on the way past. I started off looking for a particular truck (a WC 57) and although I got there in the end I passed on several vehicles that would now be worth a lot more if I'd just bought them - a couple of GPA's in scrapyards, a couple of DUKWs at $300 eachand another free for the hauling, a Dodge D8A (T212 code Canadian 4 x 4 pickup) - the list goes on.

It's quite common that you go looking for something, and find something else instead. If it is complete, in good condition, the right price, and you take a shine to it - don't be shy about taking out your wallet, but stop when the number of vehicles you have goes into double figures and none of them will run...
