The Yamaha was competetive.
I prefered the RM but the YZ was also very popular amongst local racers. They were pioneering that crazy monoshock & trying to work the bugs out of it :)
I think 1980 the YZ was better but it was short lived...Honda took over again in the early 80's & I believe they are still the bike to have.
You really can't watch the pro riders. You look at Carmichael...or Bubba there on his KX & either can clean up on whatever bike you give them.
Not to mention their bikes are far from the one on the showroom floor!
I believe that Suzuki is the worst of the lot now but all those damn bikes are so fast now.
Have you been out on a new 450 4 stroke?
It's real deceiving. You forget how fast your going because the power comes on so smooth. A new 450F has more power than a 400 2 stroke from the 70's!!
They really are crazy fast & it just amazes me how much power they get out of that little motor.
Why are there no competetive US built motocross bikes anymore Clinton?
