off topic, but related. im working on a boat with a a diesel engine. the exhaust manifold has a square flange area that connects the exhaust to the exhaust elbow that has a water injection feature downstream. i was able to secure a new elbow and get the assembly apart. problem is that the mating area on the exhaust manifold has a portion that has eroded due to rust. my question is does anyone have experience with a shop doing cast iron repair that could build up the damaged area?
a new manifold runs about 2k so id like to go the repair route first. i know that someone here must know an expert in this field.
