Don't ask me how I know, but suffice to say I have lived within 70 miles of Washington, D.C. for nearly 40 years and "know" a lot of people who work in various government security jobs, including some pretty sensitive ones.
These people have to be mum on what they do and so are forced to be pretty silent about things they see on t.v. and in papers that really get under their skin.
Some of the "liberal media" and conspiracy junkies want the American people to believe that government agents listen to all sorts of domestic conversations.
Yeah, and JFK is still alive and hooked to a machine!
#1 they don't have the TIME or BUDGET much less the inclination to listed to Joe Schmuckatelli talk to his cousin in Brooklyn or wherever.
Who they ARE interested in, for example, are Al Queda associates and people who have been linked to them who are both here and in other countries.
There are undoubtedly many potential incidents that have been thwarted by these security measures that have never been publicized.
WHY isn't is publicized much? Because in part due to the need to protect assets and procedures. Also, you need to remember the newspaper and broadcast editors biases and inclinations.
It is not an assumption, rather it is statistically proven, that journalists in general are much more liberal than the average person in this country. This has been documented in many studies. What they believe in is their right, but it causes some bias as to what they report on and how they report it.
