You and Norm are right.
Mike may appear dogmatic at times, but people often forget that he has the knowledge and background that very few others on this site have concerning tires. This is especially true of Michelin and radials in general.
He did not strike me as the thin skinned type, but maybe his flame suit finally developed some breaches in it so he felt he needed to retire!
