My "new" M43 has the best ride of any vehicle I own, driving over the hill to my cabin. It's a steep, rocky road and the M43 rides smoother than the M37, the M35, the 67 chevy pickup, or my honda car. I think it's even smoother than my girlfriend's Toyota pickup. It may just be a matter of weight, since the M35 smooths out a lot if I put 3 or 4 tons in the back. It still needs a whole lot of work before I go any distance in it, and it burns a lot of gas, but I think it'll be a cool and practical truck, especially on all the steep old mining roads and logging roads around here and in the snow.

The one thing I really don't like is it's very hard to turn. It's MUCH worse than the M37 in terms of steering wheel effort, plus it has a longer wheelbase. I'm thinking it may just be the tires. The M37 has NDTs with good tread and 50 lbs of air in them, so on hard ground they pretty much just ride on the center rib, whereas the M43 has buckshot mudders with 35 lbs of air which have a much larger contact patch. I would hate to have to turn it around on a narrow road.

As far as what's popular or not, my level of wealth (or lack thereof) pretty much means I can only afford the vehicles that aren't currently in fashion. I'd love a carryall or a command car, even though they're still cheap by the standards of the '57 Chevy and Shelby Mustang world, but not at the prices they're going for today.
