It's about the size of a pick up bed, looks sorta like a big lathe. The mounted tire is held vertically, and the tail stock compresses the ring for lock ring removal. Then the rim rotates while a tool removes the tire. Then they use the ratchet strap/winch technique to pull the donut out, while the tire is clamped to the headstock. I THINK they winched the donut in from the back side?

I haven't been able to find the step-by-step pics lately. I only found it because I searched for more info about a surplus machine on Government Liquidators. I wondered what the heck anybody needed such a machine for. I looked for the model of the machine, got the whole owners manual.

Other than removing the donut, it wouldn't be too bad with a compressor, I made one from scrap iron and long 1/2" bolts. Anybody want pics?
