I used to have a dial-up at home and a (tax deductible) DSL at my shop. So I set the maximum size allowable to download at home to small, then would eventually look at the big files at the shop. Or let them expire.
I recall that I would get a header from the big emails, telling me that it was 'truncated' so you could then reply to the sender that the pics are toooo big?
You could check your mail remotely, at the library? But a trip to town is asking too much of you, who is just being a nice guy.
