And what heritage do the current Dodges really owe to the original Dodge Brother's vehicles? Couldn't you say that it is "just a brand"? I mean look at how many times the company has been bought or sold or significantly restructured or realigned since the first power wagon rolled off the line. I know that there are plenty of old Power Wagon fans that don't have much use for the current Dodge Truck offerings. I, myself, am crazy about the ram, not for the sake of brand or heritage or loyalty, but for the Cummins Turbo Diesel that carries them down the road.

And, if Cerebus can't make Chrysler fire on all 8 cylinders again, and they get into rocky financial standings - then they should go under, permanently. Chrysler has been bailed out by the government once - in a miraculous turn around. I don't see this as an opportunity to repeat the same type of event. And, I don't want to spend my tax dollars to bail out a company that can't survive. I don't want to be responsible for a company on terminal life support.

Don't get me wrong. I love the Chrysler brands. And, I am confident that Cerebus can do a better job resurecting Chrysler and preparing it for the long-term than any two-bit politician council from Capital Hill.

I am ready for another 50 years of trucks worthy of the Dodge and/or Power Wagon names!

Dan
