The 340 is a great little motor...for a car. It's power curve is high reving and the torque is at the top end. It's not a put-put motor. I can't remember if it's externally balanced as are the 318 and 360 LA's, seems to me it was internally balanced, but my memory is fuzzy about that....
It was developed for Trans-Am racing and drag racing, fun motor but not suited for a truck.
