The weird thing is how late it came even in the high hills. Before this storm, there wasn't much more snow up at 5000' than down here at 3000'. Usually the snow starts in the high hills in late October and works its way down to town. I went over Lookout Pass Sunday to get some wood and there was only an inch or two along the road. Anyway, it looks like winter's finally here. We're supposed to get more snow tomorrow. Better fire up the Tuckers and make sure they're ready to go. I guess the M37's going to be stuck at my cabin for the winter. Should have pulled the battery out of it. I hope the snow doesn't smash the cab roof in like it did on that D200 a while back.

One good thing about the late snow is the ground is frozen hard. Last year we got a heavy wet snow early while the ground was soft and saturated with rain, and it uprooted a huge number of trees. The power was off for hours a dozen times or more, and a lot of good timber was ruined. In some of the recent loggings, all the seed trees they left got knocked over. That kind of weather (heavy snow with soft ground) is weird around here.
