I agree with Vaughn and John.
I would also add another caveat: It depends to some extent on where you live and intend to drive. If you live in the flat lands, non-synchro is very easy to master following their advice. If you live in the really mountainous regions with steep short hills and valleys, it can be very difficult to time the engine rpms and the road (transmission) speed to get the non-synchro gears to mesh just right. This may also mean that trucks from these regions will have more worn gears (in my humble opinion).
