Not an oversight. why do you think the body and engine was mounted with spring loaded bolts? Radiator core support mounted bottom center with strut rods to cab? so it could absorb all the flex of the frame. A very well thought out design. other trucks and cars were not set up this way. The whole thing is engineered for a purpose.
