When George Bush took office for the first term in January of 2001, the exchange rate for the Euro was $.94 per Euro. When he took office for the second term in January of 2005, the exchange rate was $1.31 per Euro. For the first sixteen days of October, 2007, the average exchange rate is $1.41. The current exchange rate has passed $1.45.
Maybe all the European buyers have driven the prices up with thier new found wealth!
And don't even get me started on the loss of the dollar in Canada! You used to be able to vacation up north for nearly half of what it cost in the U.S.
