You are not all wrong. A lease can work for the right person in the right place.

The biggest factor is risk. If you get suddenly sick and have to make a bunch of roadtrips to a hospital, your miles for the whole year are burned up. Just an example from many.

The truely wealthy have the cushion to do as they please. Buy new, lease, buy the whole dealership,.......The problems center on a person who is of borderline income to make the payments, either for the lease or a new car. The better option is a good used car and put the ego in the trunk for a couple of years. Ha, ha.

My dear friend always leased and always asked my advice on it. I still say that if you "have" to have a new vehicle, always want a payment, never want to own free and clear, and can avoid high miles, then it is not a bad deal. He is now married and buying a house. They are owning cheaper cars and paying down the house.

By the way, I have a spare $55k right now, until I start buying inputs for next years farming at least......
