I think that is a possibility, but the parts books do not seem to back that up. This does not mean much, as the parts books and actual production do not always match!

The 1963-68 parts book shows the grill was changed at serial number 1492000. I took at look at the Sweptline registry, but I did not see any trucks after that serial number with the 4 headlight grill. I always thought 1492000 was the changeover from the early details, to the late details.

I also checked the frames in the parts books, and it looks like the 128" WB frames came out at serial number 1492000 as well, which makes me think everything was changed at that point. There are also some frame changes at 1430000, but those do not change the WB.

As it is easy to swap parts around it is even possible to have the much later trucks have a 4 headlight grill, so to be sure of what you have a bunch of details should most likely be checked.

Does anyone have a known original truck with a serial number after 1492000 and the 4 headlight grill? I would like to know if this was done. I don't doubt it, as Dodge could have had some leftover parts to use up, etc.

Eric
