Todd,
The metal top piece seems to have vanished from most if not all filter manufacturers Deluxe JC replacement cartridge. I've bought the Napa 1011, Wix 51011 and Baldwin JC405 in the last couple years and each one doesn't have the metal end piece. They all fit very snug in the JC filter housing and unless the current filters available have changed, the new replacements should fit. Purolator, Hastings, AC and maybe some other mfg's used to offer a metal canister element instead of the sock style but finding one is tough. The metal cartridges are long out of circulation and the only place I've seen them is Ebay. I've checked my filter books for a metal or paper cased element and there's a few possible replacements but I can't say for sure they'd fit due to length and center post size dimensions. Most of these are not specifically sold for a bypass type application but might work....just not as well as a depth type sock filter or the obsolete metallic depth cartidge.
