Changed the oil in the 47 today. Ordered a WIX 51011 sock type filter. It is not the same filter I have in the truck. Called NAPA to see if they had a 1011 and they did. Went to NAPA to get it and its exactly like my WIX 51011. On both boxes the part # says 551011. According to a store manager WIX is not part of Dana anymore and combining with other filter outfits and now they are combining things. The 1011 and 51011 out there now appears to be a bigger sock type filter.

O Riley's computer shows a WIX 51011 with a comment of 1955-61 engines 5 1/2 inch size.

Are our smaller sock filters obsolete now? Ladt year I got a NAPA 1011 and it was the correct filter.

Any place to get these older type filters still? If I had known this a year ago I would have bought 20 filters to have.

Here is a picture of the old type correct filter. The new filters do not have the metal area at the top. They woudl not even fit in the canister and you probably couldnt have screwed the lid back on without this indentation of the old filter.

Is there a can typo filter that will interchange with the old sock? Just a drop in replacement?
