Unless you are planning to haul rocks, or heavy equipment buckets, I'd say add more bracing and use thinner plate. 12 gauge steel would suffice for most uses. Hang around fuel stop and check out some trucks? Or a rental yard, check out the decks on trailers? Or an on line trailer supplier?
