I stand corrected about which assembly line and in what city Paul was sent to. I wrote my little tribute off the top of my head without research, just recollection, but at least I was right about him being sent to the plant to select the plane. Paul and Dutch Van Kirk used to attend the big WWII Event near Reading, PA in the first weekend in June. Now that is a treat for WWII buffs, and those who enjoy all many of military vehicle from the era.
I know the B-29's were based on Tinian Island. It also a terrible irony that the Indianapolis after delivering the bomb was among the last ships ( if not the last) that the Japanese sank - most of you know the rest of the story that was brought back to American memory by the movie Jaws.
