..for every account I have, I spell my name a tad differently, middle initial, Mr., Norm or Norman, etc. I can tell exactly where every piece of unwanted mass marketing junk comes from because of that little trick.
Using that information, I can call up the offending culprit without having to guess who is cheating on the privacy issue. These companies face some pretty stiff fines and penalties for ignoring your instructions and in some cases, like violation of the no-call lists or tele faxes, the consumer can actually recover damages up to $500 per incident.
