Tire guy talked me into leaving it on the rim. It was on the left rear on the outside. I had to drive by the DOT station in a few miles and they would spot the blank rim in a heartbeat.
It ran smooth at 45mph and was very out of character for me to do something dirtball like this, but I had the rest of the afternoon open to drive slowly.
A couple of years ago I blew a new looking right rear on my Taurus SHO at "interstate" speed. When the security nut driver broke I drove 8 miles on the flat at 10 mph on the edge of the interstate. Did not ruin the rim, but I had 8 more rims at home if I did. Tire guy hammered an old socket on the round nut and got my spare on. My car now has five regular nuts on each wheel. Darn ferds anyhow!
