What is the best technique for making these bed side rails quite straight?

My first thought was to buy various diameter steel rods, sharpen the tip, grease them, and start ramming them in (smallest diameter first) until things look good. Maybe use the rods as a dolly and hit high spots with a hammer. Then hit them with filler.

Alternatively i could cut them off and weld on some new ones made of rolled steel if I can find some of similar thickness. . . .

Any guidance is appreciated. It is during the restoration of this '47 WDX that intend to learn body work. My new philosophy is that it ain't broke until you can't fix it no more.
