Last year I had a shop in Reno do some work on Grnmch (my 42 WC53). I had them rebuild the seats to match and had them do a head liner. They also rubbed out the paint which had never been done.

It was not a pleasent experience and they are one of the best shops in town and are now actually on TV showing their work. The headliner install failed in several areas and the front seat halves were not quite identical and they had to repaint my fenders where they rubbed the paint so thin I could see the primer underneath it. They fixed the paint last year but the new paint had some fish eyes in it.

Well I went to the shop unannounced this morning. I wanted to show them what I was unhappy about and that I was not pleased with them. Interesting, that they receptionist remembered me by name when I walked in. They got the owner for me and I showed him their work on my truck. His attitude was OK but not great. I told him that I was not happy with the work and that I had just returned from a show where the truck and I got 2 hours of TV interview and shooting time on two different networks. I point blank told him that his shop absolutely got no mention in the interviews as I was not happy with them but that I did mention several other individuals who had helped me. I also mentioned that the truck has won three tropies recently and that it was getting a lot of exposure at this time.

All I can say is that the truck is in the shop right now having the interior redone and they will fix the paint when ever I come back to town. The guy kind of realized that his shop was not getting the exposure that it could have. He stated to me that the truck is really unique and well done and that it will continue to get exposure. I guess he decided that he did not want a pissed off customer out there that was getting some attention. He took other cars out of his schedule and will be working on mine for the next several days.
