Yeah, I remember working around the springs to get the mig nozzle aimed. I had to replace the fiber bottom anyhow, to keep the rats out later. A Previous owner had had a seat cover done, and the upholsterer had sawn out chunks so he could hog ring the cover to the springs. Rather than pry the OE clips off and re-use them. Not the only sub-standard workmanship on the truck.

The fiber is called "waterproof backer board". I get it from REAL upholstery suppliers- Keystone?. I used it for my headliner, with vinyl spray glued to it. It comes in two sizes, umm 36x48, plus 30x60? I needed both, one for the ceiling, one for the seat base.
