Many operating problems are the result of not properly following the correct procedure when performing maintenance or repair.

This same brake situation is discussed in about every third Forum.

Replacing the master cylinder requires that you follow the step by step instructions in the service manual for a major brake adjustment. The manual shows the correct adjustment of the piston push rod to insure that the MC piston lines up with the relief port. That ultimately affects pedal travel.

The BRAKES section of the Service Manual is on the Museum web site and can be downloaded and printed out for you to take to the shop and follow when working on the brakes. Click on the Museum link below and scroll down to BRAKES under Frequently Asked Questions.

The WC's, the Power Wagons, and the M series Dodges have basically the same brake systems.
